Public Lecture by Prof. Lin Hui at Harvard University

Prof. Hui Lin was invited to delivery a public lecture “From Map to GIS and Virtual Geographical Environment” at Harvard University on 3 March 2006. With 30 years of research experiences in cartography, remote sensing application, GIS spatial analysis and virtual geographical environment, during the lecture, Prof. Lin introduced the principle, development processes and the significances of virtual geographical environment which can be regarded as the brand-new language of geography. The attendees of the public lecture include the research fellows and students from the Graduate School of Design, Harvard Forest, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Institute for Quantitative Social Science, Harvard Libraries, Harvard-Yenching Institute and Campus Management Division of Harvard University, etc. Prof. Lin’s public lecture was received with very good responses from the attendees. Prof. Lin brought a worthy discussion with the research fellows by expressing their expectation of future cooperation.
